Be Thankful September 11,2001 was a tragic and unforgettable day for our country. We will forever mourn the families and the scar it has left on our nation and our people.Never again should we take anything for granted, for we know not what tomorrow will bring. We should learn to appreciate our families more, spend more quality time with them, let things go undone to read a story to our babies, visit people in the hospitals and nursing homes, tell our parents, children, husbands, wives and all the people we care about how much we love them.We need to pray as the sun rises each morning and at the end of that day, give thanks that we've been granted one more in which to do these things.Never again should we fuss and gripe about what we don't have, but look at what we do have in a more appreciative way.Last night I watched as new York policemen and firefighters went on T.V. in front of millions of people and talked about the ones they had lost, how one of the men was a helper and was always there if you needed help with anything. One was big on family,a devoted father and husband.Another was the clown in the crowd, always making people laugh and one of the men[I believe his name was Timmy]was the most handsome. As the reporter interviewed them, you could see how hard it was to hold back the tears and by the time it was over,I felt I knew each one of those people personally and felt an even greater loss. The point I'm trying to make is to appreciate everything and everyone in your life and live each day as if it were your last. Dedicated to The New York police and fire departments. Written September 20,2001
