Wishful Thinking

When they were little
I thought about my girls
what I wanted them to be
lacy dresses,ribbons and curls
ladies...yes all three.
What I got was far from that
although they still give me joy
but lacy dresses,ribbons and curls
don't look right on three tomboys.
My dream has faded...but I still have others
all my girls have become mothers
maybe they will have little girls
I'll still get my dream of ribbons and curls
but the years have gone by fast
my dreams are about all done
for out of seven grandchildren
how many girls?????
Unbelievably only one.
May some day before I'm gone
she'll have a girl and bring me joy
but knowing my luck as bad as it is
she too will have a boy.

Little Chick-a-dees I love you all.
Love Mama!
