Ocean

Southern Rhapsody

Spanish moss
a southern drawl
a mix that spells romance
moonlit nights
you by my side
in a slow
sensuous dance.
A kiss so soft
it stills my breath
love not far behind
magnolias sweet
the air permeates
is love really blind?
Look in my eyes
for the truth therein
of what I feel in my heart.
Years passed
love still lingers
I think back
to those magic nights
and look at the ring
still on my finger

The Proposel

Sweet warm kisses
soft southern nights
the scent of magnolias
pale moonlight
the sound of the ocean
as we walk hand in hand
watching our names
disappear from the sand.
No words spoken
silence untold
watching this new love
slowly unfold
then ever so gentle
like yesterday's wine
I look into your eyes
and you into mine
words finally spoken
on bended knees
you ask softly
"marry me please"?

Written for my wonderful husband Gary as we met and married in south Georgia.

Palm Trees

God's Country

Magnificent plantations
God's greatest creation
has to be the south
magnolia trees
honeysuckle breeze
palms that reach the clouds
love and romance
moon filled nights
oceans blue as the sky
old southern gentlemen
in long white coats
twinkles in thier eyes
sand so white
it blinds when you look
southern ladies know how to cook
kids with respect
for mom and dad
manners I wish
all children had
storms at sea
you and me
safe in our little house
no better place under the sun
than a place called the south.
