The cabin was located seven miles from town in the mountains of Cherokee,North Carolina

High and secluded a restful place
a backwoods country cabin
stormy night knocks out the lights
darker than you can imagine
howling winds bending trees
the hand of fear grips me tight
what was I thinking when I gave in
and came here to spend the night?
Morning arrives with greater rewards
than I ever guessed
as I stand in awe at the scene before me
I feel I've truly been blessed.
Crisp cool air the scent of pine
breakfast on the stove
morning coffee in my cup
this picture I'll forever hold.
Much too soon it's time to go
but I'll take a little part
of these precious mountain memories
and hold them in my heart.
